From the founder
Hi, I'm Michael Scanlon, Founder of ClimateCon!, a convention celebrating climate innovation and inspiring action. I first learned about Global Warming in the 1980's while studying at Virginia Tech. With the birth of each of my children (2000, 2004, 2006 and 2009) I grew increasingly uneasy as I held their precious infant body in my arms while watching cars drive down road spewing greenhouse gases. What would the Earth look like when they were old enough to hold children of their own? You know - my grandchildren.
My career led me to creating larger and larger events, something I loved doing. I was producing a major conferences in 2020, when a pandemic wiped the company out. Driving ride share for 2021-2022, I kept thinking I needed to get back into creating fun, major events - and that this time, it needed to somehow, in some way, help battle the Climate Crisis.
Our inaugural convention was produced on January 23, 2024 to rave reviews. On April 11, 2023, ClimateCon!, LLC was born.
Thanks to everyone, especially our amazing volunteers, who collaborate with us as we create a community passionate about creating action around the Climate Crisis by highlighting innovative solutions.
